As far as in-game is concerned that's because of hitbox and character model being a limiting factor. From this it would seen that Spartan 3s and 4s are about the same height and Spartan 2s are a little taller.May 19, 2018

He is also said to be one head taller than John-117, making him one of the larger Spartans, and was the fastest to recover from the augmentation.
