A1389LLHLT-9-T Description

Higher accuracy and smaller package sizes are needed for new applications of linear output Hall-effect sensors, such as displacement and angular position. The linear Hall-effect sensor ICs Allegro A1388 and A1389 have been created especially to satisfy both needs. Both surface-mount and through-hole packaging are available for these temperature-stable electronics.

End-of-line optimization improves each device's accuracy. To maximize device sensitivity and the quiescent voltage output (QVO: output in the absence of a magnetic field) for a certain application or circuit, each device has non-volatile memory. By programming the temperature coefficient for both sensitivity and QVO at Allegro end-of-line test, the A1388 and A1389 optimal performance are maintained across the complete operational temperature range.

The voltage output from these ratiometric Hall-effect sensor ICs is proportional to the applied magnetic field. Around 50% of the supply voltage is used to regulate the output quiescent voltage.

These linear devices work across a wide temperature range, from -40°C to 150°C, making them perfect for use in automotive and industrial applications demanding great accuracy.

A Hall element, temperature-compensating circuitry to lessen the intrinsic sensitivity drift of the Hall element, a small-signal high-gain amplifier, a clamped low-impedance output stage, and a specialized dynamic offset cancellation method are all integrated into one BiCMOS monolithic circuit.

Two different package designs are available for the sensor ICs A1388 and A1389. For surface-mount applications, the LH is a small, low-profile package in the SOT-23W design. The UA is a through-hole mounting 3-pin ultramini single inline package (SIP). With 100% matte-tin leadframe plating, both packages are 100% lead (Pb) free.
