ADUM1201ARZ Description
A dual-channel digital isolator, the ADUM1201ARZ is based on the iCoupler® technology from Analog Devices, Inc. These isolation components, which combine high speed CMOS and monolithic transformer technologies, offer remarkable performance qualities that are superior to alternatives like optocouplers.
The design challenges that are often connected with optocouplers are eliminated by iCoupler devices by omitting the use of LEDs and photodiodes.
The straightforward iCoupler digital interfaces and steady performance characteristics alleviate the normal optocoupler worries about erratic current transfer ratios, nonlinear transfer functions, and temperature and lifetime impacts. These iCoupler solutions do away with the requirement for external drivers and other discrete components. Additionally, at comparable signal transmission rates, iCoupler devices use one-tenth to one-sixth the power of optocouplers.
Two separate isolation channels are offered by the ADuM1200/ADuM1201 isolators in a range of channel configurations and data rates (see the Ordering Guide). In order to be compatible with lower voltage systems and to provide voltage translation functionality across the isolation barrier, both devices work with a supply voltage that ranges from 2.7 V to 5.5 V on either side. The ADuM1200/ADuM1201 also offer tight channel-to-channel matching (3 ns for CR grade) and reduced pulse width distortion (3 ns for CR grade). The ADuM1200/ADuM1201 isolators, in contrast to existing optocoupler substitutes, offer a proprietary refresh feature that guarantees dc accuracy in the absence of input logic transitions and during power-up and power-down situations.
The ADuM1200W and ADuM1201W are automotive-grade versions qualified for 125°C operation.
