ADUM1251ARZ Description
The ADuM1250/ADuM12511 are hot-swappable digital isolators that support I2C interfaces and have non-latching, bidirectional communication channels. With freestanding optocouplers, there is no longer a need to split I2C signals into separate transmit and receive signals.
The ADuM1250 offers two channels that are bidirectional and supports a full isolated I2C interface. For applications where a bidirectional clock is not necessary, the ADuM1251 offers one bidirectional channel and one unidirectional channel.
Hot switch circuitry is built into the ADuM1250 and ADuM1251 to stop data glitching when an unpowered card is placed onto an active bus.
These isolators are built using Analog Devices, Inc.'s iCoupler® chip scale transformer technology. iCoupler is a magnetic isolation technique that has advantages over optocouplers in terms of functionality, performance, size, and power consumption.
The ADuM1250/ADuM1251 allows for the integration of iCoupler channels with semiconductor circuitry, resulting in the implementation of a fully isolated I2 C interface in a compact design.
