An adaptable step-up/step-down switching regulator, the ADP3000AR-3.3, may work in step-up mode from an input supply voltage of 2 V to 12 V and in step-down mode from up to 30 V. With its 500 A consumption and Pulse Frequency Mode (PFM) operation, the ADP3000AR-3.3 is ideally suited for uses that call for low quiescent current. The ADP3000AR-3.3 has a step-down setting that allows it to output 100 mA at 3 V from a 5 V input and a step-up configuration that allows it to output 180 mA at 3.3 V from a 2 V input. The error amplifier, linear regulator, undervoltage lockout, and low battery detector are all applications for the auxiliary gain amplifier. Operating at a switching frequency of 400 kHz is the ADP3000AR-3.3. This makes the device ideal for designs with limited area because it enables the use of tiny external components (inductors and capacitors).
