If you want proximity sensors to perform at their best, you should set their supply voltage to 24V. -40°C is the lowest operating temperature of the proximity sensors. There can be no higher temperature for the proximity sensors than 85°C. To make proximity sensors work properly, the reed switch's internal contacts should be conducting 5.2mA current. In DC circuits, proximity sensors can receive a voltage up to 24V without being damaged. DC proximity sensors should not have currents lower than 4.5V, or they could damage the circuit.
