The MKL03Z16VFG4 is a 48 MHz Cortex-M0+ Based Microcontroller. On a single VLSI integrated circuit (IC) chip, a microcontroller (abbreviated MCU for microcontroller unit) is a miniature computer. In addition to memory and programmable input/output peripherals, a microcontroller has one or more CPUs (processor cores). Along with a limited amount of RAM, chips frequently also contain program memory in the form of ferroelectric RAM, NOR flash, or OTP ROM. In contrast to the general-purpose microprocessors found in personal computers and other applications that use a variety of discrete chips, microcontrollers are created specifically for embedded applications.
