Very Low Drop regulators with a wide variety of output voltages are offered in the SO-8 package by the KF00 series. They are very well suited for low noise, low power applications, and particularly in battery driven systems because of their extremely low drop voltage (0.4V) and extremely low quiescent current. There is a Shutdown Logic Control function (pin 5, TTL compatible). This indicates that it is possible to put a portion of the board in standby when the device is used as a local regulator, reducing the overall power usage. It just needs a 2.2 F capacitor for stability, saving both space and money.
