DRV8873HPWPR Description
In industrial applications, the DRV8873HPWPR is an integrated driver IC for operating a brushed DC motor. The H-bridge driver, which comprises four N-channel MOSFETs that drive motors bidirectionally with up to 10-A peak current, is controlled by two logic inputs. The device runs on a single power supply and accepts input voltages ranging from 4.5 to 38 volts.
A PH/EN or PWM interface enables simple controller circuit connectivity. Alternatively, two solenoid loads can be driven using separate half-bridge control.
The controller may monitor the load current via a current mirror. This mirror approximates the current through the high-side FETs and eliminates the need for a high-power resistor for current sensing.
By shutting down much of the internal circuitry, a low-power sleep mode is given to achieve very low quiescent current demand. Undervoltage lockout, charge pump problems, overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, open-load detection, and temperature are all protected by internal protection features. The nFAULT pin and the SPI registers are used to identify fault states.
