HD3SS3220IRNHT USB3.1 Mux Description s
The HD3SS3220 USB SuperSpeed (SS) 2:1 mux includes a DRP port controller. For ecosystems implementing USB Type-C, the device provides Channel Configuration (CC) logic and 5V VCONN sourcing. The HD3SS3220 is ideal for any application because it can be configured as a Downstream Facing Port (DFP), Upstream Facing Port (UFP), or Dual Role Port (DRP). In DRP mode, the HD3SS3220 alternates between presenting itself as a DFP and a UFP in accordance with Type-C specifications. The CC logic block monitors the CC1 and CC2 pins for pull-up or pull-down resistances to determine when a USB port is attached and what port role it plays. Once a USB port is connected, the CC logic determines the cable orientation and configures the USB SS mux accordingly.
