ISO1212DBQR Description
Isolated 24-V to 60-V digital input receivers that meet the requirements of Types 1, 2, and 3 of IEC 61131-2 are the ISO1211 and ISO1212 devices. These devices provide 9-V to 300-V DC and AC digital input modules in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor-control, grid infrastructure, and other industrial applications. The ISO121x devices offer a straightforward, low-power alternative to conventional optocoupler solutions with discrete, inaccurate current limiting circuitry, enabling the development of small, dense I/O modules. These devices can be configured as sourcing or sinking inputs and do not require field-side power supply.
The ISO121x devices support 2.5-V, 3.3-V, and 5-V controllers and work throughout a supply voltage range of 2.25 V to 5.5 V. The input pins are protected in case of failures with low reverse current thanks to a 60-V input tolerance with reverse polarity protection. For high-speed operation, these devices pass pulses with a minimum width of 150 ns at data rates of up to 4 Mbps. The ISO1212 device is appropriate for multichannel space-constrained designs, whereas the ISO1211 device is ideal for designs that call for channel-to-channel isolation.
As comparison to conventional solutions, the ISO121x devices minimize the number of components, simplify the design of the system, improve performance, and lower board temperatures.
