ISO3086TDW Description
The primary power for an isolation transformer is provided by the integrated oscillator outputs of the isolated differential line transceiver known as the ISO3086T. This full-duplex differential line transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 applications can be quickly set up to operate in half-duplex mode by connecting pins 11 and 12 to pins 14 and 13, respectively. These components are perfect for lengthy transmission lines because they break the ground loop to enable a significantly wider common-mode voltage range. Between the bus-line transceiver and the logic-level interface, the device's symmetrical isolation barrier is tested to offer 4242 VPK of isolation for 1 minute per VDE.
Any cabled I/O can be subjected to electrical noise transients from various sources. These noise transients can cause damage to the transceiver and/or near-by sensitive circuitry if they are of sufficient magnitude and duration. These isolated devices can significantly increase protection and reduce the risk of damage to expensive control circuits. The ISO3086T is specified for use from –40°C to 85°C.
