The LM2941T/NOPB is a low-dropout adjustable Positive Voltage Regulator that can source 1A of output current across a wide temperature range with a normal dropout voltage of 0.5V and a maximum of 1V. A quiescent current reduction circuit has also been implemented, which reduces the ground pin current when the voltage difference between the input and output voltage exceeds about 3V. With 1A of output current and a 5V input-output difference, the quiescent current is only 30mA. Only when the regulator is in the dropout mode (VIN - VOUT=3V) do higher quiescent currents exist. All regulated circuitry is protected from reverse battery installations or two-battery jumps, making it ideal for vehicle applications. The regulator will immediately shut down to protect both the internal circuits and the load during line transients, such as load dump when the input voltage can suddenly exceed the set maximum operating voltage.
