LM5164QDDATQ1 Buck Converter Description
The synchronous buck converter LM5164-Q1 is intended to regulate over a large input voltage range, reducing the need for external surge suppression components. With a minimum controllable on-time of 50 ns, significant step-down conversion ratios are possible, allowing direct step-down from a 48-V nominal input to low-voltage rails for decreased system complexity and solution cost. The LM5164-Q1 works at approximately 100 percent duty cycle with input voltage dips as low as 6 V, making it a perfect choice for high-performance 48-V battery automotive applications and MHEV/EV systems.
The LM5164Q1 delivers up to 1-A of output current via integrated high-side and low-side power MOSFETs. A constant on-time (COT) control design maintains a nearly constant switching frequency while providing outstanding load and line transient responsiveness. The LM5164-Q1 also has an ultra-low IQ and diode emulation mode for maximum light-load efficiency, novel peak and valley overcurrent protection, an integrated VCC bias supply, and bootstrap diode, precision enables and input UVLO, and thermal shutdown protection with automated recovery. Sequencing, fault reporting, and output voltage monitoring are all provided by an open-drain PGOOD indication.
