TPS54335ADDAR Step-Down Converter Description
The TPS54335A step-down converter is synchronous converter with input voltage ranging from 4.5 to 28 V. It has an inbuilt low-side switching FET, which eliminates the need for an external diode, resulting in a lower component count.
The integrated 128-m and 84-m MOSFETs, low IQ, and pulse skipping at mild loads optimize efficiency. The shutdown supply current is decreased to 2 A by using the enable pin. With a well-regulated voltage reference that is 1.5 percent over-temperature, this step-down (buck) converter delivers accurate control for a range of loads.
The TPS5433xA series of devices are protected in overload conditions by cycle-by-cycle current limiting on the high-side MOSFET, which is reinforced by a low-side sourcing current limit that prevents current runaway. To prevent excessive reverse current, a low-side sinking current limit switches off the low-side MOSFET. If the overcurrent condition lasts longer than the predetermined time, hiccup protection is activated. When the die temperature reaches the threshold, thermal shutdown disables the device and re-enables it after the built-in thermal hiccup time.
