Description


The TPS546D24ARVFR is a non-isolated, highly integrated DC/DC converter with a 7-mm × 5-mm package that can operate at high frequencies and output 40-A of current. The combined output of two, three, or four TPS546D24A devices can deliver up to 160 A. In order to increase efficiency and lower power dissipation of the converter, the device has the ability to overdrive the internal 5-V LDO with an external 5-V supply through the VDD5 pin.

The TPS546D24ARVFR has a small footprint and is stable over a wide variety of output capacitances thanks to a proprietary fixed-frequency current-mode control with input feedforward and adjustable internal compensation components.

A straightforward, standardized digital interface for converter configuration as well as monitoring important parameters like output voltage, output current, and internal die temperature is provided by the PMBus interface with 1-MHz clock support. Depending on the needs of the system, the response to fault situations might be adjusted to restart, latch off, or ignore. To make system software/firmware design simpler, all TPS546D24ARVFR converters powering a single output rail can share a single address thanks to back-channeling communication between stacked devices. To allow program-free power-up, important parameters such as output voltage, switching frequency, soft-start duration, and overcurrent fault limits can also be adjusted through BOM selection without PMBus connection.
