Description
The TPS61169DCKR is a boost converter that powers LEDs in series and has an inbuilt switch FET with a 40-V rating. The boost converter can drive single or parallel LED strings for small- to large-size panel backlighting since it features an integrated 40-V, 1.8-A MOSFET with a minimum 1.2-A current limit. According to the Simplified Schematic, the feedback voltage is controlled to 204 mV and the default white LED current is set with the external sensor resistor RSET. A pulse width modulation (PWM) signal provided to the CTRL pin during operation can be used to adjust the LED current. The duty cycle of the PWM signal defines the feedback reference voltage. The TPS61169DCKR does not burst the LED current, therefore the output capacitor is not subjected to audible noises. The TPS61169DCKR, which disables the TPS61169DCKR to prevent the output voltage from exceeding the absolute maximum voltage ratings of the device under open LED situations, is integrated into the device for optimal protection.
