TPS61230ARNSR Step-Up Converter Description
The TPS61230A is a fully integrated synchronous boost converter with high efficiency. It includes 6-A, 21-m, and 18-m power switches and can deliver up to 2.4-A output current at the 5-V output with a 2.5-V input supply. The low RDS ON switches enable up to 96 percent power conversion efficiency and minimize thermal stress in a very small solution size.
Because the typical operating frequency is 1.15 MHz, small inductors and capacitors can be used to achieve a small solution size. The TPS61230A has an external resistor divider that allows the output voltage to be adjusted.
During a light load condition, the TPS61230A automatically enters PFM mode to maximize efficiency while consuming the least amount of quiescent current. During the shutdown, the load is completely disconnected from the input, and the input current consumption is reduced to less than 1.0 A by pulling the EN pin to logic low.
When the output is shorted, the device enters hiccup protection mode and returns to normal operation when the output short is released. Other features such as output overvoltage protection and thermal shutdown protection are built-in.
