The TPS7301QPWRG4 component is a part of the micropower low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator family. Because it has an inbuilt delayed microprocessor reset feature, it can be distinguished from the TPS71xx and TPS72xx LDOs. The TPS71xx and TPS72xx should be taken into account if a precise delayed reset is not necessary.
In the event of an Undervoltage condition, the TPS73xx's RESET output initiates a reset in microcomputer and microprocessor systems. An inbuilt comparator in the TPS73xx continuously checks the regulator's output voltage to look for Undervoltage conditions.
In that case, the open-drain NMOS RESET output activates, bringing the RESET signal low. During the period of Undervoltage, RESET remains low. Upon the termination of the Undervoltage condition, a 200-ms (typ) time-out starts. RESET goes high when the 200-ms delay is over.
By using a PMOS device in place of the traditional PNP pass transistor, dropout voltage and quiescent current are reduced by an order of magnitude compared to normal LDO performance.
