The TPS92692 and TPS92692-Q1 are peak current model-based controllers that allow step-up/down LED driver topologies with great precision. The TPS92692QPWPRQ1 has a rail-to-rail current amplifier for measuring LED current as well as a spread spectrum frequency modulation approach for better EMI performance.
This high-performance LED controller can dim LED current utilizing analog or PWM dimming techniques independently. Varying the voltage across the high impedance analog adjust (IADJ) input produces a linear analog dimming response with a range of over 15:1. PWM dimming of LED current can be accomplished by either directly modulating the DIM/PWM input pin with the required duty cycle or by turning on the internal PWM generator circuit. By comparing the DC voltage at the DIM/PWM pin to the internal triangle wave generator, the PWM generator converts it to the corresponding duty cycle. An external P-Channel series MOSFET can be driven using the optional PDRV gate driver output.
