Photodiodes are enclosed in Tray to prevent damage. Photodiodes are packaged in TO-46-2 packages in order to ensure their safety. Continuous reverse-bias means the photodiodes can withstand only 5V voltage. When reverse-biased, the photodiodes should not continually exceed 5V. As a rule of thumb, when photodiodes are operating, the temperature should not exceed 85°C. The minimum operating temperature for the photodiodes, however, should be set to -30°C. There is 50pA current flowing through a photodiode even in the absence of light input.
